Facts and History

The history of FEU Diliman is unique compared to other FEU schools. The campus, situated in a 10-hectare property in Mapayapa Village, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City (formerly categorized in Barangay Diliman, Quezon City), was originally constructed for the Institute of Technology in 1983. It was the biggest FEU campus in terms of land area at the heart of several of Quezon City’s middle class housing developments. It initially offered 3rd and 4th year engineering programs to service students from the main campus in Manila. After several years of operation, it was decided that engineering would be offered back in the main campus.

In 1994, the Nicanor Reyes Educational Foundation (FEU-FERN College) was established to commemorate the birth centennial of Dr. Nicanor Reyes Sr., the founder and first president of FEU. In its rebirth, the school offered Accountancy, Business, Information Technology (IT), and Basic Education (BED) programs (K-10). The Commission on Higher Education granted recognition to Information Management, Computer Science and Information Technology on April 19, 2001 and recognized Accountancy and Business Administration on April 30, 2001. The Department of Education granted complete recognition of kindergarten and secondary courses on July 18, 2003, while the elementary course was granted complete recognition on September 17, 2003. In October 2003, the school had the first batch of BSA graduates composed of three (3) students who passed the Certified Public Accountants Board Exam.

With its basic education students growing in number, the school was tapped in S.Y. 2006-2007 to represent FEU in the UAAP Juniors competitions. Carrying on the tradition of sports excellence, the school captured its first of many UAAP championship titles in football and chess during S.Y. 2010-2011. Because of this success, world-class sports facilities were constructed and FEU Diliman had one of the first artificial football pitches in the country in 2012. In 2014, the Sports Complex was completed which used the same imported hardwood floors used in the courts of the FIBA world championship in Spain. In recent years, the focus on character and competence development has formed the core of FEU Diliman’s holistic education. It strives to design a unique learning experience for each student to develop lifelong learners empowered to positively transform the lives of others and to be future ready.

For Basic Education, FEU Diliman aims to deliver an advanced curriculum in English, Science, and Math with an integration of the 21st century skills development. Students are provided with holistic development through engagement in sports, culture, values formation, and other socio-civic activities and programs. Value added courses are embedded primarily to prepare graduates to pursue higher education in the top universities in the country. Meanwhile, for Tertiary or Higher Education, FEU Diliman aims to be a professional institution that is recognized to be a center for Business and Information Technology fusion. In addition, professional core courses for technical proficiency and internship for real-world practice have continuously formed the core of the curriculum. Technology driven or non-traditional delivery strategies allow higher student engagement and motivation to achieve outcomes as well. As a result, FEU Diliman graduates become technology-empowered, highly qualified, and principled professionals and leaders poised to provide innovative solutions to industry’s future challenges.

In S.Y. 2018-2019, FEU Diliman was aligned under the FEU Institute of Technology owing to its trimestral school calendar. With this management move, the Business-IT Fusion framework immediately became an exciting reality as the old offerings were revised and enhanced fusing Marketing and Multimedia Design, Finance and Business Analytics, and Operations with Service Management Applications and Systems. As a drive towards excellence and continuous improvement, FEU Diliman embarked on PAASCU accreditation for its K-10 programs in October 2017 through a successful informal visit. With only minor observations, the formal visit was set in October 2019. In 2018, the school set its sights on achieving Autonomous Status for Tertiary with Business and IT serving as both Centers for Excellence and Development and Level 3 PAASCU accreditation for Basic Education.

For 25 years, FEU Diliman has committed itself to developing professionals of exemplary integrity and work ethic in the fields it has chosen to serve. With the FEU core values–Fortitude, Excellence and Uprightness, FEU Diliman continues to transform, empower and inspire its students and graduates to excel, be principled leaders, and successful citizens of the Philippine society.
